Obituary for Janice Strawder


Ms. Janice Lynn Strawder age 79 a former resident of Randolph County and more recently a resident of Mansfield Place in Philippi, departed this life early Sunday morning, August 26, 2018 in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.

She was born April 15, 1939 at Bemis, WV a daughter of the late Cecil and Mabel Smith Strawder.
She is survived by three sons William Cecil “Bill” Sturdivant of Randolph County, Rob Sturdivant and fiancée Beverly Hinchman of Belington, and Steve Strawder and wife Susie of Junior. Siblings surviving include brothers; Russell Strawder of Harding, Jack Strawder of KY, Cecil Strawder of VA, and sister, Nancy Fenstamacher of Belington, grandchildren, Donald Fortney of Belington, Brian Fortney of Canaan, WV, Heather Dawn Bonnett of Elkins, and Tabitha Lynn Tincher of Elkins, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great Grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter Rebecca Sue Sturdivant, two infant Children, and her former husband Granville Robert Sturdivant Sr. She was also preceded in death by one sister Wilda Jean Strawder and one grandson Eric Sturdivant.

Janice attended the schools of Randolph County, and was a Baptist by Faith. She was formerly employed at the Barrick Building at Elkins, WV in the housekeeping department. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, from 6:00 to 9:00pm on Tuesday August 28th 2018. Cremation will follow and her cremains will be scattered at a later date at Bemis WV, near her home place. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors Project P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Ms. Janice Lynn Stawder.
