Obituary for Wanda Lee Bennett

Ms. Wanda Lee Bennett, age 91, a resident of Belington, departed this life Tuesday morning, October 30, 2018 in the comforts of her home, following a period of declining health.

She was born November 21, 1926 at Durbin, WV, Pocahontas County, the daughter of the late Delbert and Lula Teter Bennett.

Left to cherish her memory is a special niece; Sue Ann Edwards of Belington, one special nephew; Jennings “Dud” Bennett of Webster Springs, WV. Additional survivors include her feline companion Peaches, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five sisters; Lillian Bennett, Doris Bennett Harlty, Lois “Noon” Bennett Edwards, Louise Bennett Sponaugle and Helen Bennett Knotts, three brothers; Laurence Bennett, Richard Bennett and Paul Bennett. Wanda was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Wanda was a graduate of the Belington High School with the class of 1945. A resident of Webster Springs for 31 years where she worked for Pardie & Curtain Lumber Company store and for the Webster Springs Telephone Company & Mountain State Telephone Company. She then transferred to Masontown, Preston County, where she retired from Altell Communications in 1991. After retirement she returned to her hometown of Belington in September of 1990. She was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Belington, where she served as treasurer of the church, a member of the United Methodist Women, and a Sunday school teacher and worked diligently around the church at whatever needed done. She was a member of Tygart Valley Rebakah Lodge # 181, was a loving and kind woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, from
4 to 9 pm on Friday November 2nd, 2018 and again on Saturday November 3rd, 2018 from 8am – 2pm the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery in Belington. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church 134 S. Beverly Pike Belington, WV 26250. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Ms. Wanda Lee Bennett. Condolences can be made to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome .
